I went to Joshua Tree National Park this past weekend with the wife and plucked this single image from the time lapse I'm putting together. This is a single exposure @ 14mm for 25" seconds at f/2.8 and ISO 3200.

Thanks everyone for the kind remarks. It will be my first time lapse(not motion) :( That may come later down the road. I can't really drop $1k+ on a track at the moment. The wife would probably get on to me. lol After all she did let me get the Canon 6D and a couple other goodies :)

This is wonderful!

What a beautiful, beautiful, BEAUTIFUL sky!

As if it wasn't already great, the shooting star takes it over the top! The placement of the shooting star in the frame was quite fortuitous.

As for the tree in the foreground, was that just natural ambient light on there, or did you use some kind of other lighting for this image?

Beautiful shot. I love the sky and the tree in the foreground. Great work.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming....."WOW, WHAT A RIDE".

Thanks everyone. :)

Tom,
The lighting on the Joshua tree was from a Coleman light with two white led's surrounded by a transparent drink bottle that's orange in color to provide a more natural look. I also covered the light/drink bottle with some debris I found nearby to dampen the luminosity of the light as it's only an On/Off switch. The image I posted actually lost a lot of detail when I processed it and converted it to jpeg. It looks like it's been hit pretty hard with Noise reduction so I may put up a link or repost the picture? Im glad everyone likes the pic.

NavyDiver,
I love hearing stories of photographers using whatever they have at hand to help them create a great image - thanks for sharing your lighting methods!
