Not exactly the best use for the 7D, but until I bought my Tokina 16-28 (less than a week after taking these), I had no FF UWA, so I had to use the 7D + Tokina 12-24 combo.

Very nice and sharp, Felipe. Have you tried your new Tokina 16-28? I really like mine. It's nice and sharp all around.

Hi everyone, not sure if this is the right place to put this query but I just bought a second hand 7D with a low shutter count (4000 ish) however I have been playing with it for a couple of hours and am quite disappointed with the quality of the images. Obviously I had to make this low quality to upload it. How do I know if there is a problem with the camera or if I have a setting wrong? I have upgraded from a 450D so was expecting the image quality to be much better. I have a Tamron lens which seems to be particularly bad, but the image is even bad with a couple of Canon lens.

Any tips on where to from here? The settings for this shot are EF50 f/1.8 II lens, 1/80 sec, f/10, ISO 200.

Thanks

Let us know what you feel is bad about the image. Maybe post the full sized image with a link to it so everyone can look at it.

You will need to use a little more sharpening with the 7D since its AA filter is considered strong. Also let us know what AF setting you are using. Using one AF point would be best for an image like this.

Hi John
I have posted this image as a full size jpeg along with another example in my dropbox - hope it can be accessed.

The details of the second shot are: Lens EF-S18-55m f/3.5-5.6 IS, focal length 55mm, 1/60 sec, f/5.6, ISO 100, partial metering, from memory I had single AF point selected. It was a bit windy so the shot may be a bit blurry but I am not worried about that, it is the grainyness that I am worried about. When you zoom in even a little it seems very grainy. I checked the camera and I am shooting in RAWL and JPGL so think I have the settings for the highest quality image.
Thanks for any advice.
Cindy

Very nice and sharp, Felipe. Have you tried your new Tokina 16-28? I really like mine. It's nice and sharp all around.

I have taken a few shots with the 16-28, but just a sunset landscape, not much more. I gotta visit this museum again.
