Very nice and congrats on 7D2.

Yesterday I met someone with 100-400mm mk2 with 5d3 and he saw some of his shots with that combo and I am amazed with the picture quality. But I am torn between 7D2 or 1Dmk4.

Thanks Peter and I agree on the 5d3 and 100-400 combo. I've got both and going on the reviews of the 7D mkll I was considering selling my 5D3 as I shoot mainly street, and am doing less landscape nowadays. That was until I encountered the noise (in my case) on the 7d2. Since getting it I have shot mainly in difficult situations and the shadows have been well underexposed which is where I am encountering the noise. I'll hold off for now and try doing more STTR and see if that helps with the noise. I'm not too good at PP and perhaps that's my problem with the 7d2?

My latest bird shots, having never shot birds before, are far more impressive with the 5d3 and the 100-400 mk2 than with the 7d2 and the same lens, but the downside is the lack of reach, although IMHO, so far, cropping the full frame is better then the reach of the 7d2

Thanks Colin. As I have said to Peter, I'm encountering some serious noise in the shadows with the 7D2 but I guess that's down to my technique until I come to grips with birding. That said, married to the 100-400mk2 I have to say i am more excited about this combo than I have ever been since getting my pentax ME super all those years ago :-D The autofocus is amazing and the lens is almost as good at both ends as it is stopped down and my keeper rate is far higher even with the 1.4 extender.

Just a grabbed shot..........The 5d3, 100-400mkll and extender at full stretch @ iso 400 I expected noise in the shadow but the 5d3 handles it far better than the 7d2

From down at the NWR last week. I usually shoot in manual, but lately I've been trying out the TV mode with auto iso. Its been working pretty well actually till this shot. He flew into this dazzling light, I was gonna toss the image but I saw it in Lightroom and I kinda liked it.
