New T5i/xxxD body

Is there any real difference between this one and the previous two models?

They're still using the same, four-year-old 18MP sensor... I'm starting to wonder if they've reached the limit of their sensor/ADC technology, and don't have the patents to move onto the new generation.

Specs looks just like the T4i, what's the point of changing the name?

It is basically the 60D with better video. As in, exactly the same (9 x-type, vari-angle LCD, 5 fps), but at the same time slightly worse (sync speed, max SS, build quality).

If true, this is just... unnecessary. But hopefully the 70D will actually have some new stuff.

And for those of you who think this is too soon, remember that the rebel series gets updated every year, give or take a few months.

Almost seems like the T5i takes on the (in)famous "super rebel" concept quite seriously No but really, its almost sounds like Canon will release the 7D MKII and forgo the xxD series. I love my 60D and its 9 crosstype AF points, body build, and button layout, but its like the rebel is seriously encroaching on many of the xxD positive aspects in a worse body and high price. I'm just sad to see the same 18 mp sensor that's been with us for a while now, although admittedly it will still be an upgrade for some folks getting rid of their XTi, XSi, T1i or 30D, 40D bodies... but c'mon Canon you can do better!

So, apparently, it's a 'new' 18MP sensor. Just like all the so-called 'new' 18MP APS-C sensors that have been claimed to have been released for each iteration of body since the 7D, but which all seem to have identical performance.

This one probably has the same performance, but cheaper to manufacture...

It's virtually the same as the T4i, albeit some different finishes and the addition of a 18-55 STM lens.

The topic is a quite misleading. It should be more like "Rebranded t4i emerges"

This has to be the most iterations of one sensor ever, correct? 7d, t2i, t3i, t4i, t5i, eos-m, and 60d. Pretty sad, I understand they update the rebel line once a year, but really, maybe its time to take a step back and sacrifice a year or two and start working on sensor development and other features that will make a difference. Seems like bad business, the only reason I can see for them continueing to do this is because its become extremely cheap for them to produce these cheap consumer cameras.
