I had the chance to shoot some rythmic gymnastics & it was pretty
tough going.

Here are a few of my better efforts.

Advice would be appreciated should I do it again.

Agreed on the noise.

Hindsight is 20/20, but if you had better bokeh, #1 would be FABULOUS! Excellent composition.

If only we could all afford a 200mm f1.8. :D

What lens were you using a 70-200 2.8? Next time I'd find a way to get the shutter speed up, you'll need at least 1/600 and more like 1/1250 to get the motion blur out of there (yes 5 to 10 times your shutter speed). If you've got a faster prime, I'd reach for it, if you don't them make do with what you've got. Crank the ISO, shoot RAW, get it as properly exposed as you can (and a little to the right if you can make it happen), then use the RAW processing to knock the noise back down. White balance looks a little different on the last two on my monitor...you'll likely want to set a custom then check each image to make sure they don't have heavy casting as the lights in most gyms cycle.

3-5 have much cleaner backgrounds. If you get that again, feel free to exploit it! Shot #1 with one of the clean background would be spectacular.

Great photos, but the white balance is a bit off on the yellow side. This can easily be adjusted in PS with curves and levels. Also a good noise-program would help a lot.

The old mkII was struggling :(

Yes, no chance to get a f1.8 at the moment.

Lighting was terrible with different temp tubes all over the place

Never done this before so shutter speed was an experiment whilst
trying keep some exposure in the images.

Auto white balance & auto toned in lightroom. Not much else done apart
from a crop & re-size.

I have Noise Ninja so will run a few through & see how they look.

Thanks again all
