Pocketwizard tt5 + remote control question

Does the flash accompanying the transceiver (tt5) need to have ttl capability in order to be used with the AC3 zone controller in manual mode?

I ask because I'd like to use the tt5 with some cheap flashes (Yongnuo 560 iii's) and be able to remotely adjust the power.

Yes, the flash needs to be E-TTL compatible (for Canon version of TT5) in order to use the AC3 to adjust the power level of the flash.

BTW, not all E-TTL compatible flashes will work with the FlexTT5. The link below is to a PocketWizard page that lists the flashes that are currently supported to work with the FlexTT5.

Add the AC3, and while the communication is done ETTL, you can control as if manual
