Greetings! I have searched and haven't found what I am looking for. I shoot RAW and process with DPP. I have found tutorials for DPP but they are all very basic. What I mean is that they show you around the GUI but I want to know what they tools are actually doing. For instance, there is a sharp/unsharp mask option on the first tab. What is the difference? Then there is another sharpening that you can do on the RGB tab which has an entirely different scale. What is different between the contrast on the RAW tab vs. the RGB tab? etc, etc. I don't understand all this.

So if someone could direct me in the right direction, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks, I will look through those again. I think I may need a "for dummies" version of what is actually going on when you are trying to process RAW files. I want to understand it but a lot of the tutorials are just leading through the interface and not telling you what the settings are doing or they assume you understand what they are doing and get more technical than I have the basic knowledge of to understand.

I'd suggest asking here if you have any particular problem. But try to be precise about what you have done and what you want to achieve.

Brenda, first off have you read the Users Guide that can be updated online for the latest versions?

Then, you say you've checked out tutorials, presumably from online searches, so...yb98 who posted above is an excellent resource for DPP stuff, maybe pay close attention to anything he says!

Oh my word! I cannot believe myself sometimes! I can't believe I didn't think of searching for a User Guide! Sheesh! I did watch the canon videos but the User Guide explains the tool palette sliders which is where my understanding gap was. Thanks for pointing out the obvious. In this case, I truly needed it.

...Now I have to post in the "I'm an idiot" thread...again.
