Hi,

How is your workflow when editing video? I use After Effects and Premiere Pro.

My exact question is, in which order do you use the two programs? Do you first import to Premiere and cut the film together and afterwards take it into After Effects to color grade and make effects and stuff. Or do you first take the single clips into AE to add effects and then cut together in Premiere? Or do you do all in just one program?

If there's an effect specific to a clip we get that done first in AE. Then I'll take all the clips and make the rough cut in Premiere and stay in Premiere until I have a finished cut with audio. Music and sound effects are usually recorded and or cut as needed outside Premiere then dropped into the appropriate places. Now here is where I have to admit to having a 3D guy and an audio guy who sleeps next to me every night and makes me look very, very good. He does 90% of the work that's not in Premiere for me. After I've got the final cut if I need any additional overall effects that will apply to the whole piece we take it into AE.

Thanks for your answer :) Seems like the way to do it :)

Do you just import the Premiere file into AE when adding effects and color grading or do you render the Premiere project and import it?

I render it if it's got AE clips in it already. Otherwise I import the Premiere project.
