I am thinking about getting the Op/tech grip strap (external link).
But a bit skeptical as to how it would be?
I have op/tech straps/system on both my 7D and 5D3. So this strap will really be a very compatible addition to the existing system.
Does anyone have it? How do you like it?

Looks like a personal sauna for my hand. I use the Op/Tech wrist strap (when I'm not using the Op/Tech [POTN] neck or sling strap) and find it more than adequate as far as "protection" against dropping my camera if I'm ever bumped.

How does it hold/support? Which body you use it on?

I primarily want to use it as (a bit of) support when doing some action shooting like birding/air show with long lenses like 400mm f5.6 or 100-400mm.
Do you think it will work/hold for that purpose?

You could consider Crumplers wrist strap for protection as well

Thanks.
It does not provide the support I am looking for and also I was planning to stay in op/tech system for easy interchangeability.

Hmm, for a 400 100-400, the grip strap might be a better option. The wrist strap I was talking about is more of a safety/backup feature in case I lose my grip. But if you actually want grip support, this might work out. Do you have an Amazon account? I'd say buy it and try it out - it's not that much. And Amazon is second to none about returns if it doesn't work out.

Yes I do use amazon all the time. Was just trying to avoid the return and making myself 95% sure (5% left to test and possible return) and hence getting opinion of the folks who use it..

I was also looking at Nikon Strap II (Yes. Nikon!) as another alternative. But I would like Op/tech to work for me

When out birding with my 100-400 I used to regularly drop it and let it dangle from an Op/Tech wrist strap while I used my bins. Perhaps a bit risky, but that's what insurance is for, eh?

Risky? Nah. But a wrist strap doesn't provide the same support as a hand strap, IMO.

Different tools for different purposes.

I was also looking at the Op/Tech Grip strap as well. I use their sling and want to be able to switch between a sling and a hand strap without much bother.

If you do get it give us some feedback on how it worked out for you.

Yeah. I am still contemplating. Also came across this (external link) one and seems it is adjustable. Not sure how it will compare to Op/tech in terms of functionality. Another option was this (external link). Yes, it is N...n but if it works, why not.
