Fires in the Southwest U.S.

Thought you might like to see what Mt. Lemmon looked like a couple of hours ago. This pic was taken about 10 miles from the foothills. The glow on the far left is a nearby golf course driving range, lit by sodium lights. The rest is glow of the fire off the clouds of smoke surrounding the mountain.

I remember seeing this exact scene when I was a kid living in Tucson. I am SO sorry that it is happening again, especially after the damage done last year.

thats amazing. i went to school at u of a. moved to phx a couple yrs ago.

is the fire still that strong. do they know yet what caused the fires?

I don't really know if they have a handle on the cause, other than it's been quite a while since the area has been swept clean by a fire like this. Fire really does have a purpose. I know that sounds callous, but it's true.

What you are looking at is Pusch Ridge on the right, all the way to Catalina on the left. The pic was taken near I-10 between Ina and Cortaro Farms.
