Using that, you would be limited to manual mode to avoid the "preflash" signal sent. As I generally use ONLY manual mode, this makes no difference to me. However, since you specifically want to use ETTL, I'm not 100% certain what would happen. I am hoping to do some test shooting this weekend and will try the combination (though my 430 is an EX, not EXII) to see what happens and get you an answer.
