I somehow thought I had already posted these but I guess I was wrong lol. Better late then never. This past January I got to shoot the Winter X Games for the first time, I flew out from Los Angeles to Denver and then drove about 3.5 hours to Aspen; the drive wasn't bad at all thanks to the great scenery. This was my first time shooting in snow and I am definitely hooked and can't wait to shoot in the snow again. Here are some photos I took, I still have some others to upload.

And these last two which were my favorite

Great job!

So how did you find Aspen compared to L.A.? I imagine it being a bit odd coming from such a large city and finding yourself in such a small town. I've been wanting to move back ever since I left.

in action sports, like skiing and snowboarding, it is important to capture not only the rider, but the context of the rider. The questions you want to answer are, where is the rider coming from, what are they doing in the air? and where are they going?
This can be tough to do in the halfpipe, but is important to do nonetheless.

That being said, nice exposure and sharpness!
6 is the strongest of the set imo

I loved it!!! I can't wait to go back, I think I am shooting at Red Rocks in April? All the people there are so friendly as well! One of the days I needed a little break and ended up going to a park by a little river it was amazing and super relaxing. How long did you live there?

I totally agree, the half pipe was near impossible to shoot while giving perspective because of the locations I was permitted to shoot in. I have some others with a little more context, I will post them later on this evening and would love your feedback! Thanks!

Yea, i hear you on that, I hear xgames is pretty bad in terms of access and overall craziness.

Here are a couple of my shoots from pipe comps that i think turned out well

Just a few seasons working as a lifty but it was enough to pretty much get me hooked. I would work with alongside ski school and patrol whenever the opportunity presented itself.

I believe if someone is even remotely into an outdoor lifestyle they should go and chance a least one season in Aspen. I'd have to go as far and say it was possibly one of the best life experiences I've yet to have. Driving a snowmobile to the office everyday and watching the sun come up over the Rockies with a cup of cocoa was a really great thing.

Yea I mean they were really friendly over there, but to get real access you have to work for or be affiliated with ESPN. They were very accommodating though as far as the media tent and the people. Other events I have been to security etc is very hostile but over there they were actually friendly which is a nice change.

Great photos!!!!

Wow I want that job!!! Haha, sounds fantastic. I have never skied or snowboarded before, so I have to learn by the next time I go to Aspen. Because when I was there I wanted to go so badly but didn't want to hurt myself so far from home lol.
