Here's the deal...I had 30 mins to take some wedding pics for a friend right before their reception, just of them and their daughter. By the time they were ready it was dark and all i had for a backdrop was a floor to ceiling curtain in the main entry way of the venue. (Blue gathered curtains). Once I got them into post production, I really didn't like the dated look the curtains gave, so I edited all 50 photos and changed the background to black. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. Unfortunatley I don't have the 'before' to go along with this 'after' so please imagine! Any comments are appreciated, it has been a challenge learning this flash!

Digital Rebel, 50mm, 580ex Flash and alot of bouncing.

good job on switching the background...only apparent if you look way too closely...id say its more than acceptable. To me, the color looks a little off on the first two, but it could just be my moniter. Nice job.

Very nice job indeed! However, I think that the groom's coat is blended with the background. Perhaps a lighter background. Can you share us how you switched the background color? I cannot tell if you didn't mention. I just had a new thread asking PS expert to change the background color in PS. I tried myself, but didn't get a good result.

Thanks for the comments. To change the background, I used the magnetic laso, the select them, then used the regular laso to get any areas missed and tighten up the selection, then I feathered the selection by only 5 pixels and inverted my selection so only the background was selected and filled it with black, I then took the burning tool and on about a 50% opacity burned the edges a little, to help blend it. That's about it I think.

I think you did a very nice job. I like the black background too.

Fantastic job. I can't imagine how long that took.

Her hair looks green in the first one...what's that about? Also, I think the hubby's tux blensds in with the black a bit too much. Very nice shots, though.

Nice job. I also see abit of blending with the background at times- as suggest, perhaps a lighter background might help?!
