Whats the exif of those photos? Did you shoot noth in av or just the first 1. I assume you used tripod.

I have a shopping list for you if you want  1x82mm CP filter 1x very sturdy tripod height upto 1.8mtr (moon shoots with bigma) and 2-4gig CF card.

Wife still going on about the 2 sigmas I got the other day  so I still have a lot of browny points to get.

PS have this link on photographing waterfalls

I would need a 77mm CPL, to mate with 17-40 and Sigma 10-20 which I hope to get soon.
I have no idea about the 105mm filter on the Sigma 120-300. May just use a cheapo UV. :p

CF cards I'm fine. I carry my 80Gb portable Vosonic drive with me.

The tripod/monopod may need to be sturdier. Well a nice head attachment to support a 6lb lens

Sorry, about the exif. First shot is 6 seconds, ISO 100, f8
The water was very slow moving

The second one is 2 seconds, ISO 100 f8.
Generally waterfalls, I'll shoot between 0.5 and 2 seconds, depending on the volume of water. As it was a dull day, I didn't have to shoot at f16 and higher, as I often need to do. That's probably why they're so sharp at the sweet spot on the 17-40 @ 17mm

I'll show you instead.

The composition is fine.

As I say, first of all, is the composition, it's upmost important. You have to shoot level, to keep the greatest number of pixels, in case you need a large print.

Meter the pic.. AV mode or whatever you use.

Shoot

Then edit

If you know about levels, your whole shot was very dark, or underexposed, except had a bright spot from the water itself.
An easy fix is to move the mid level, in "CTRL L" in photoshop.
Slide it left a bit, but not too much, you lose contrast. Then you can add some contrast back. You can then fine tune it under Curves, right click points on the line, and then VERY slightly move them up and down, getting a good balance. Be careful, easy to lose contrast in shots at any exposure point.

I also removed the noticeable dust spots with the clone.

Added some saturation, and + hue to bring out green.

Only a quick edit, but gives you the idea. :)

Although I can see I've lost some contrast in mid range, but that can easily be fixed. :)

That's a good shot.

As for going out sometime this week. Not sure about that now.
My sisters 21st dinner tomorrow night, probably shopping on Thursday..

I'm shattered at the moment, a couple of late nights, so tonight even does not feel good. :o
