Going on vacation soon and will be looking for some osprey and eagles to shoot. I will be using my 400mm 5.6 and my 5D3. How well does the TC work with this set up? Any examples? Would I be better off with my 60D and lens combo to get the most reach?

Your camera bodies will not autofocus at f/8 or smaller. Canon has a fix for the 5D3 coming, but I don't think the 60D will ever.

If you like manual focus you'll be in heaven.:)

So... the 60d with no extender (which is what I think you were referring to originally) is your best bet if 400mm isn't long enough. As Taperman says, the 5d3 firmware update isn't out yet, so a TC on there won't necessarily give you AF.
