Darn you all!

+1 40mm lens. How many and why did they have to reman???

There was an issue with the focusing, which Canon has since fixed via firmware. But I'm guessing a bunch of people sent theirs in.

Shouldn't be a problem anymore on the new/refurbished ones, or even on an old one(just have to flash the new firmware)

I got mine in a package deal with the 6D for $99. I had every intent on selling the lens, but after trying it out and seeing just how sharp it is wide open, I just had to keep it.

I was able to get the pancake for $99 from Best Buy using that Master Card $50 off $100 coupon from a few months ago, also scored a 430exII for $200.

I recently used it on my T4i and it is a very nice lens, I do wish it was a bit faster (say 1.8) and as sharp as it is wide open at that speed would be awesome. But then it wouldn't be as inexpensive as it is. I like to try and take indoor lower light no flash pics of my daughter so I have been thinking about getting a fast 35 or 28, but that will be expensive and a much larger sized lens than the pancake.

Received mine today and already been shooting. Gotta wait till I get home to see the photos though. Read lots on here about the lil lens so I couldn't pass it up as my first lens purchase.

Mine was on the doorstep when I got home from work today. Just put it on the 5D3 to try it out. The lens is only slightly bigger than my Kenko 1.4x TC! This should be a handy lens to take along when traveling.

Canon is having a 30% off on refurbished lenses...
I really did not need it but for $111 I could not resist!! can't wait until it arrives to test!

Its so small that I figure it will always stay in the front pocket of my camera bag in case I need something faster then my typical 15-85 walkaround lens.

I have a Sigma 30 which I love, but its bigger and heavier.
I also have the Canon 50f1.8 which I really don't like and will likely sell.

Anyone have the Sigma 30 AND the 40 pancake? do you use both?

I have the 40, sigma 50, & 30, I have been thinking about selling the 30 because I don't need all of them even though I have a crop and full frame. I definitely won't be parting with the 40, it's too good , lightweight, and cheap to give up. I don’t know what to do because I like them all:lol:

I am loving my 40mm pancake after three months. I tried it a bit on my T2i and it worked fine, but I really love it on my 5D3, because I can use higher ISO and get great shots indoors or in the shade. I can even use auto ISO and pretend like I am using a point and shoot camera. LOL

Here are two shots with the Mark 3 and the 40 pancake:

I bought it when it first came out in the UK, list was £220 and the shop did me a deal!! For £200

I only bought it to tide me over until the 24-70 2.8 L IS USM came out :) still waiting!
I have to say I was quite shocked by the quality you know for the money, (any doubters look further up this thread, at the shot with the motor bikes - a red metallic tank! - my case rests on IQ.

Also for portability on a long day its magic.

Crikey. I already have the 35ZE and 50L and not to mention the 24-70L II. The 40 will be just lovely as a light weight option....it won't be long before I click buy.
