My first attempt was a little disappointing so I needed to redeem myself. The Milky Way looks a lot better in this picture than my other one, but the mountains are a different story. Thoughts, opinions, questions and comments are much appreciated. Thanks

I like it a whole lot. Mountains look fine to me, not sure if there is much you can do about them.

I posted the image settings in my original post. Sorry I didn't do it originally. To answer your question about it being very dark. Yes it was very dark. I was 50-60 miles east of San Diego at Anza Borrego State Park. It was a perfect night out as you can see from the photo, with the exception of the light pollution.

I think what I did wrong was try and shoot a panoramic with a wide angle lens and parallel to the horizon instead of perpendicular. Next chance I get, I'll try shooting 5-7 images vertical that way when I merge the images into PS, the mask are a lot smaller and will hopefully prevent the warping I experienced in this panorama. Lesson learned I think :)

This was taken in California about 50 miles east of San Diego. I haven't tried shooting the Milky Way here in Hawaii, but I plan to in a couple weeks during the new moon. Hopefully it's a clear night that weekend. Clouds seem to be the biggest problem on Oahu.

Oh trust me, I'm very proud of this shot. :) I never would have thought it would have been possible to capture this much detail of the Milky Way with my Canon 6D.
