I'm thinking about picking up a Pelican case to store all my equipment, plus have some space for my anticipated purchases. Here's what it would need to hold:

7D gripped
6D
24-105 w/ hood reversed
100-400 w/ hood reversed
16-35 II w/ hood reversed
430EX II Speedlite
100 f/2.8L macro w/ hood reversed
MR-14EX ring flash
A few filters and CF/SD cards

Would this fit in a 1510? I've been thinking about a 1564, but I'd prefer the carry-on size if possible.

Thanks in advance.

I suppose if you looked at the pictures on the pelican case thread, you would get a pretty good idea whats right for you. On the other hand I thought I would only be buying the 1510, then I thought only the 1510 and the 1560, but now I'm looking at another case.

While that's excellent advice, it's a 60 page thread that started in 2008... some of the image links are broken and it's unwieldy at this point. I was hoping someone with a 1564 or 1510 would be able to give me an idea of whether or not everything would fit.

It will fit in a 1510, but there won't be much room (if any) for growth. However, one idea is to buy a 1510 now, and then expand to a second 1510 as the need arises. That is what I've done, and it gives me great flexibility to pack my gear and still allows me to have the size and convenience that comes with a carry-on. Plus, photography gear is really heavy. By keeping things segmented into 1510 cases, the weight never gets out of control.

That's a good idea, thanks very much Bryan!
