Ok....I thought that this should be quite easy to create in PS (using PS6) but I can't quite figure it out. To be exact, what I want to do is create the effect of spinning motion (as in adding a bit of motion blur) on a basketball that has been positioned on someone's finger (the idea is to make it appear as if a youth basketball player is spinning a ball on his finger while not actually doing so). Motion blur doesn't quite work as it wants to make the ball appear as if it's moving in a plane parallel to it's position instead of spinning. Radial blur will make the ball appear as if it's spinning....just not in the correct direction. I would love some input on how to achieve this effect. I'll attach a pic of a basketball for anyone wanting to play around with it. Thanks :)

It's sometimes hard to think without having PS in front of you. First thought was to create couple more layers of a ball image and play with their filters/transparency and by moving one to the left a bit and another to the right. blur and distort the copies, to create illusion, that the ball is is snapped from sliiiightly different angle. Delet overlapping stuff, obviously. Just a thing to try, not sure, if it will work.

Do the Motion Blur, then Edit/Transform/Warp. Drag the top corners up and inward, drag the bottom corners down and outward. Use a good mask of the original ball to constrain the bluring and warping.
