Is anyone using the Wacom Intuos 5 with Windows 8? I'm curious how well the device is with Windows 8 gestures *outside* of LR or PS. In other words, just using the tablet as an everyday mouse replacement. Can you use it for pinch zooming, swiping to change apps, scrolling, etc.

Thanks.

I have those two items, but one of them is no longer on my computer. Can you guess which one? Let face it, Windows 8 is not made for a desktop, but as I remember, it was fine for finger gestures, like using the middle finger for Steve Ballmer.

I've had Windows 8 on my 3-monitor non-touch screen primary workstation desktop for over a year, since early betas. I've personally found it better than Windows 7...it has some specific features that handle multi-monitor setups better than Windows 7, and this machine has performed notably better since upgrading to Windows 8, specifically networking and disk I/O with my SSD's has improved.

But I digress...my intent with this thread was not to get into a Windows 8 discussion. :)

Windows 8 is better than 7 in some ways; specifically large memory management. (noticeable improvement for photoshop/lightroom on my desktop with 24gb of ram).

I also haven't used the 'start' menu since XP though outside of the quick search; and Win8 ties directly into that use case. (I open a 'Desktop' application and pretty much never see the Metro ui again outside of the improved quick search)

Hello Jason, the Intuos5 Touch works fine with Windows 8 gesture. I found it to be a lot better than the Logitech T650 Touchpad.

You can download the gesture guide here:

As for Windows 8. Love it!

So Intuos 5 work with every aspect of Windows 8 within the Metro interface?

Yep works in win8 but don't expect it to be polished like say an IOS device. In hindsight I wish I hadn't forgone the non-replaceable surface that's in the touch version for the gimmicky gesture control (which I have since disabled).

Can you explain this comment in more detail?
