I see that Canon Rumours has 6 pages of discussion following the announcement yesterday that Canon "may" have a high MP body out in some time in 2014!

I desperately want Canon to succeed with a high MP, high DR, low noise, body to beat Nikons superb D800 and D800E. But nothing in the announcement gives me any indication that Canon even understand what kind of body they should be working on. They may still be thinking high ISO, video, high noise, low DR as per their recent releases, but I hope not.

I get the impression that this will be a high priced item, so we must not expect it to match the Nikons for price.

Don't necessarily need the high MP camera, need a high ISO/high DR camera. I would be perfectly happy with the resolution of today if Canon could just solve their DR/pattern noise issue.

And add Eye-Controled Focus Point selection to it...That would be ideal.;)

I have been counting on it ever since Canon started making higher resolving MKII lenses. The latest crop bodies show that older glass may not cut it with higher resolution sensors. I would expect something to be announced in the 35-40mpx .

Thanks Mark.

You bet Richard.:)

Thanks for finding the article and bringing it to our attention. I rarely remember to check out that site. I would love to see a new high MP sensor by Canon with marked improvements in DR and high ISO performance...I hope that this rumor comes true.

Maybe it's time for Canon to make a picture focused camera range. Like Nikon, just leave off the AA filter and focus on the still image quality. Trying to be good at both video and pictures is having them fall behind with photogs.

I don't see where Canon has degraded still photographic results? If you don't want the aa filter, just pay a few hundred dollars and hot rod your camera.

That is an option, but you´d have to pay quite a bit extra, lose your warranty and decrease resell value.
An item original from manufacturer would avoid those and probably perform better. ;)

I couldn´t care less for more megapickles, but I´d love to have more DR.

Photography is about GEAR and not talent or practice. Practice won't make you a better photographer. Expensive equipment will. =D

Why do you desperately want Canon to beat Nikon. I just want a good tool to use from Canon since I have all my lens only mountable on Canon cameras. This whole beat them mentality is mindless...since when did we enter a race or game here. Cameras are tools not sports teams.
