Have a Canon 60mm f/2.8 Macro and would like to know if the 250 or 500 close up filter is worth the investment to enhance the lens? Thanks

If you want to go closer than 1:1, extension tubes are the best way (assuming you're not in the market for an MP-E65mm lens). Mark.

Well the reason I asked I just bought this lens is due in Wednesday and its manual recommends the 250 or 500 close up lens as an accessory.

Found this on Amazon in the description for the 250D: From the Manufacturer These close-up attachments can be used with most EF lense to provide a shorter minimum focusing distance with no loss of light. The 250D/500D series incorporates double-element achromatic design for maximum optical performance while the 500 series features single-element construction for maximum economy. The 250D is optimized for lenses between 50-135mm, while the 500D works best with telephoto lense from 70-300mm. Manual focusing is recommended. I don't know how well it works with the 60mm, but according to a calculator it should take you to 1.48x magnification.
