Looks like a giant Baldy chasing a dwarf GBH....otherwise this looks like a fake image.

I'm no expert, but shouldn't you see the heron's legs behind him at this angle?

Looks like one helluva catch to me. And, no, from that angle you wouldn't see the legs, as they'd be obscured by the tail.

It's not uncommon to see these two, huge birds in contention. We've had a huge drop in reproduction rates, of the GBH, around here that matches up with the resurgence of Balds in the region. And it wouldn't surprise me at all to see the animosity going both ways; as both birds do, occasionally, eat from other birds' nests.

Getting that angle on a high-speed bank is pretty "right place, right time", though.

Guess only the photographer knows for sure. I personally tend to be a photoshop skeptic!

Is it actually the Bald's nest? Or did they take it over from one of the colony, I wonder :)
