Hey all:

We have use of a nice Celestron Nexstar 114GT telescope with astral mount, so it will track the sky for longer exposures.

I shoot a 5D and a 1D3.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the adapters I'll need? I've done some searches but haven't found anything definitive. What I've found appears conflicted.

Thanks!

Take a look HERE (external link), also read their Camera Adapter FAQ, follow the menu on the left side of the page towards the bottom.

I'm not sure how well that scope can deal with the extra weight of a camera. You will probably have to add weight to the back end to balance it some. In the past I have made a container out of pvc with a cap on one end and a screw off cap on the other. I got super big zip ties from Home Depot and attached the tube to the scope. I bought a brick of lead wheel weights from a local auto parts store. I could then balance the scope by putting weights in the tube. And you can remove the weights for viewing with eyepieces.

Thanks. Looks like I'd be into it for $100 or so. Hmmm. Have to think about that.
