I am having a problem with my lens on my powershot a520 cannon camera also. I'm not sure what happened but I beileve someone dropped my camera or maybe was playing with it and didnt know how to handle it while i was in class. Anyway the lens wont retrct or go out and when i try to turn on the camera it is stuck on the canon screen with the blue background. I have no clue what is wrong or what to do and i just go thtis camera on christmas so if anyone has advice it would be greatly appreciated!!!!:D

The first thing I'd try is recharging the battery, then, with the freshly charged battery inserted, try turning the camera on and off. I'd also push the mode switch between the various positions, making sure you finish up in one where you can take pictures.

If none of that resets it, then it may be a broken camera - but don't panic yet!

If you have the sales receipt or know where the camera was purchased, that would be good.

That aside, did you take the batteries out and leave them out for a while to reset the camera? Sometimes the camera will have 2 batteries, one for the date and time. If all else fails, you can e-mail the website for Canon and someone will respond. I had a question and the tech people were good about returning my e-mail.

SuzyView - and good luck!
