Refurbished 5d Mk III is a little suspect??

uh. I don't think the number from the camera is a shutter counter. I think it's just canon's numbering system for pictures. It just shows that number from the picture name, and I don't think Canon is expecting anybody to hold more than 10000 pics per card.

I believe ward ave is located on Oahu...I live on Hawaii Island (The Big Island). I might give them a call though, to see if they can take a look at it in a couple weeks (I need the cam for the next two weekends). I'll see how it plays out...thanks for the referral anyways, beats sending it to the CONUS!

That file system numbering, to further explain, if you put i card into a Canon camera that has been used in another camera, that had a file numbering of 6798, even if the new camera has taken 2 shots, the next images will be numbered starting with 6799 and so on.

In this way a card essentially corrupts the file numbering, thus it can never be relied on as a shutter count.

Yes, this is exactly what happened...I took the 64 gb CF card from my 7d and used it in the 5d.
