Is it possible?

I got a problem; I move from Japan to Canada with a cat. The cat go on the plane with me and is considered my Standard article. Problem is, I got a laptop and my 6D+few lenses to bring. The personal article is really small.

It's kinda stupid because the cat go under the seat, not in the top luggage compartiment. I could bring a very big backpack and still be fine. But rules are rules... I need something thin.

I don't think you're going to find a bag that will fit that and still be under 6" deep. The problem is that the 6D measures 4.4" tall, and the MB 0.71" thick, which makes it 5.11". That leaves less than an inch for the front wall padding, laptop/camera divider padding, and back padding. Even my Lowepro photo hatchback 22l which, when it comes to camera bags is quite slim, measures almost 8" deep, and this barely fits my 5DIII with L bracket. No space for a 15" laptop to fit in there.

I called Air-Canada in Montreal (24h service, nice!) and the dude told me that if it was less than 10kg they would probably let it pass without measuring. However he told me it would depend on the guy/girl at the gate. If I catch someone anal I might have a problem. To be sure he recommanded me to call the departure airport and ask.

How much in the cat carrier?
Stick your Mac in there, and then you have more space for your gear!

TT ShapeShifter look really nice but I doubt it's going to be 6inch thin with my stock in it...

My only hope is that they are not too anal with the specs. I'll know tomorow probably.

I've ordered a Fastpack 250 bag. Not the smallest but the hell with them. I guess I got a good 75% chance to pass without problem.

I think I can also push on the bag to make it fit if they measure, leaving the up compartiment quite empty. I hope the bag is soft enough...
