Since you stated you are green to photography...shooting with fast primes is a whole new game...especially shooting wide open. DoF is so shallow, any movement by you or the subject can result in OOF images if you are shooting on "OneShot" Focus mode., combine that with the 85mm focal length, its not hard to end up with soft or shaky images. Try using AI Servo, and stop down to practice a bit. Practice...it will come...and it will be worth it. Website
