So my 85 1.8 have finally been here for a couple days. I was so busy with work that I can only go out for a quick shot today. Here are a couple ... Love the lens so far. These was shot when the sun have gone down.

Love this shot Cory. I need to get out to shoot in the leaves before they're all gone.

I just listed my 85 1.8 in the For Sale section since I bought an 85L over the weekend. I'm gonna stay subscribed to see all the great pics in this thread though.

Thanks Mesmer and CONGRATS on the acquisition of the 85L!! I would love to upgrade at some point, but sure am happy the L's little brother is as good as it is!! I have really been enjoying it much of the summer and into the fall. Sadly I am pretty sure the color is done, done, done around here. Let the snow fly I guess!

Haha, yeah I had about 2 years not shooting coz of school and some other stuff. Now i graduated, got a job, so I have some money and time to get back to shoot. I used to own a t2i way back then. I have always love reading and looking at photos on this forum though. Especially whenever I wanna buy a new lens, I always come here and read thru countless pages of lens sample photos as this one haha. Great forum and love how everyone is willing to share their experience and constructive criticisms... Hopefully Ill be able to contribute some more to the forum this round.

I've had my eye on this lens for a while now as the next lens I want to purchase. Everyone seems to constantly bring up the purple fringing of this lens and I admit that it's scaring me away from it. What's everyone's thought on it? I don't even notice it in a lot of photos here, but some of the photos I've seen that have it are down right atrocious.

A few more test shots from around the house. Still torn on whether I want to send this back for the Samyang or not... it's definitely sharp though.

Those look pretty damn good to me as far as sharpness goes. I don't notice any fringing on those.

Yea, that's what I meant though, they're definitely sharp ;) But the overall way the image renders just seemed more appealing on the Samyang I had before... I don't know, I'm still undecided, but MF doesn't bother me in the slightest (see my sig ) In fact, I'm pretty sure I used MF override for both of those shots... definitely for the cat shot, not positive about the squirrel.

I guess I just need more practice. ;) Manual kind of scares me. I never feel like I've got it dialed in as sharp as it could be and it leads to me just going back and forth say "that looks sharp... now wait... that does... no wait" lol

An EG-S screen would help leaps and bounds imo, best thing I've bought for my 6D :) I started out using MF glass to save pennies, but now I honestly prefer it. I have the freedom to use the entire frame for focus points and it forces me to slow down a bit and get the shot right in camera without having to crop it at all later (most of the time, the squirrel shot was cropped a bit... 85mm isn't that telephoto ).

TIL about EG-S screens. :)

So... when you manual focus, you're doing it in live view then and looking at the screen? Or you're still looking through the viewfinder?
