I need to upgrade bags and have a lot of gear... Most of my shooting is done with skiing and snowboarding.. I need a backpack that holds all my gear and I have a budget of around 100 - 200 dollars. I really like the burton bags but I would like some reviews if anyone has any!

My gear list includes...
7d w/ 40mm
60d w/ Tokina 12-24
Canon 70-300 is usm
Sigma 18-50
Canon 50mm 1.8
2 gopro hero2s
2 off camera flashes
13' MacBook Pro

If this is for snowboarding/skiing, look at F Stop bags. They do cost more than your budget, but are the best, which is what you wanted ;)

Alternatively there's the Dakine Sequence which I believe can also hold a snowboard.

Just took a quick look at the burton bag. It does not look like something I'd like to wear for long periods of time especially not when doing something active; it looks like all the other generic camera bags out there, square, boxy, bulky, heavy, uncomfortable. But I've never used one, so I don't know. I'll say it again, if you want the best for this kind of stuff, look at F Stop gear (also clik elite, but I have no experience with them and I think they're ugly).

dakine makes great camera bags. i have 2 backpacks from them... the sequence and reload. the reload is huge.

there is no BEST camera bag... theres a best camera bag per situation or shoot. reason why i have 9 bags all in different sizes... one to hold only my camera and flash to a bag that holds it all

I'm in Europe hauling the following around on a friends borrowed F-stop Tilopa, mine was stolen during shipping(UPS screwup) long story.

Canon 5DMKIII
Canon 1DMKIV
Canon 70-200 2.8 is
Canon 16-35 2.8
Canon 24-105
Canon 15 mm FE
Canon 1.4II t.c
2 spare batteries per body,
Canon 430 flash
Gitzo 2541 w/ RRS BH55
Canon G12
And a bunch of accessories, filters, etc. The bag is heavy but the FStop has the best suspension system and after 10-12 hr days afield it is still manageable.

It has the Pro Large ICU, and it is easy to get at the gear.

even thou its much more than your budget I suggest saving up for it, it is really the best bag out there.

um... no such thing... as THE BEST bag...

but before we get to that... are you going to carry all your gear when you are up skiing?
or are you looking to carry the essentials in a backpack, and have a way of traveling with your gear to your destination?

personally, i don't think i've ever recalled anyone skiing with their laptops and the ENTIRE range of lenses...

so, if you are looking for a backpack to carry essential gear, you may, again, consider some of the greater recommendations such as F-Stop and Thinktank.

if you are looking for a backpack to ferry gear to your destination, then yea, large ICU or better yet, something with a harder walled bag such as Lowepro traveler case and such.

i've gone through a couple of bags, not as much as some here but here's my take.

TT-Streekwalker:
great construction, 1 body with long lens and some accs, or 1 body with couple shorter lens and accs... no problem. only wish they had a better way of securing tripod on the side instead of the middle of the bag.

Kata 3n1 30:
crap construction, piss poor construction... interesting design but the stitchwork and materials really sucked. not the most comfortable bag

Lowepro Pro Trekker AW:
on par with TT in terms of manufacturing quality, stitchwork, and fabric materials... very good... very very good... but i got this bag thinking i will carry all my gear... somewhat equivalent of your list... and realized... no... i will NOT lug all this gear with me... unless i'm going to be out for a while and i MUST carry all this gear on me.

F-Stop Tilopa
comfortable...
fabrication, materials, stitch are all good... but one minor detail... i've purchased this used but realized that the metal tubing frame actually does a number on wearing out the fabric and coating when exposed.

bag fabric is usually coated with 600 to 1000mm (wp rating) polyurethane coating... and they eventually rub off if exposed to hard surfaces.

but aside from that, i love the versatility of this bag... the various ICU sizes, (i have 3 sizes) accomodates to your needs and also can ferry the wider range of gear from one destination to another... then replace ICU to smaller to carry your essentials.

but i would still take a secure bag to lock my gear in hotel.

my vote is, spend the money and get a single system that will accommodate your needs... hence, F-Stop Tilopa or Loka and the inserts in various sizes...

it is very comfortable.
i think i may sell my TT and get a Loka.

cheers.

I agree that there isno such thing as one perfect bag, I see it as a system of bags based on present needs @ hand.

F-Stop is a great system, as you mention that the internal frame can rub into the fabric I will also point out that the bag has a 20! Yes! twenty year warranty.

I own over a dozen different bags and will agree with many of the points you mention, great write up btw.

Just want to clarify that the Streetwalker HD is larger than the Streetwalker. In my HD I have my gripped 5D3, 5 lenses, 2 speedlights, 4 Cactus triggers, a remote shutter release, and many other accessories. And this is just the main compartment, doesn't include any of the front or side pockets.
