I just came across 3rd party center pinch lens caps for Canon on Ebay. I bought the 67mm cap for $3.95 with free shipping. Looks like he has quite a few and in several other sizes. Auction number (67mm) is 160729685888. These look like they're coming from Texas, a guy called CowboyStudio. I'll let you all know if its any good.

center pinch cap can be found in lots of places. You can even get ones with the Canon logo on them for about $2.30 + shipping on Amazon. ;)

As far as Cowboy Studio, they're a well known purveyor of Chinese knock offs. Shouldn't be an issue with your lens caps though, you'll definitely enjoy ease of use the center pinch caps provide.

The OEM Canon versions are superb and blow the cheap ones out of the water.

That depends on what "cheap" ones you're comparing them to. Do you really think Canon Makes them themselves?

Actually, they do. All Canon products are manufactured in their own factories whether it be in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand or any of Canon's manufacturing plant.

No, their lenses and bodies are, but there are plenty of Canon branded accessories that aren't made by Canon themselves. It's pretty common actually. Do you really think Canon makes their filters, monopods, backpacks, etc.

Regardless, the OEM versions are better quality. It's just the way it is.

So you're telling me you've tested all the different aftermarket lens caps, and found the Canon to be superior to all of them? I'm callin B.S. on that one.

Whatever helps you sleep at night, but it's indisputable fact that the OEM ones are better in build and quality. The hunt to find a better version would result in wasted money and time when looking at the price of the real thing. I call BS on anyone doing that therefore buying the real thing supersedes hunting for an alternative.

I've not tried the Canon but the China versions are NOT very deep to provide for a positive pinch. I've actually placed a small bit of "rubber tape" on the "center pinch" for better traction. They work very well now!

Chinese knock offs are made by GE
GE stands for Good Enough
Cowboy Studios is also GE
I'm sure we all get what we pay for, I paid $3 per center pinch cap, with a drawer full of spares and I'm happy
