If I was less lazy I would have made a realistic mockup. But I am lazy.

I felt that this was soft wide open, so I sold mine.

Personally, I got tired of the lens creep.

Anyone have a bag recommendation to carry this baby mounted on a gripped FF with the lens hood reversed?

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

I use this one. Still have room for a couple extra batteries and a memory card:

And where's the happy owner on this photo? Hiding behind the box?

But it uses an EW-83E hood? I'm not sure how much shading that will give at 600mm, and definitely isn't deep enough to protect the massive front element or wide enough to mount. The front element would have to be in excess of 215mm wide!

Its not a bad kit lens to go with the new mirrorless full frame , but I trouble finding a Circular polariser to fit it.

And I knew the math nerds around here would be proven wrong one day. I always figured Canon could make a mega zoom like that and it'd be smaller than my 70-200. I just knew it. The engineers must have finally read "Physics for Morons. "

Canon headquarters:

Chief Engineer: "Sir! Sony came up with a full frame compact. We got to do something about it...."

Head of Imaging: "Relax! Its never gonna take off. Our G1X beats it to $hit. That thing has no margin! Only losers like Sony need to do suicidal stunts like this. Just focus on the DSLR lines. We have got fat margin on that. "

Chief Engineer: "Well...ok. Looks like we are falling behind on sensor tech. Should we pump some R&D budget into it? If you check DXOMarks.."

Head of Imaging: "Are you kidding me? Nobody knows the difference! DXO my a$$. They pictures all look the same to me! Its all about marketing and branding! We are CANON. Thats what sells, Canon! Get it?"

Chief Engineer: "Right....right....what about the AF? Nikon has got..."

Head of Imaging: "Just put the same damn one in there already! Who cares."
