I've just started getting into this as a hobby and I would like any tips, pointers or suggestions on how I can take better pictures of not just my daughter but people in general. Used photoshop to apply the effects.

The best advice I can give you is quit while you still have some money in your account. Seriously just have fun and practice and read as much as possible. You have a beautiful subject.
