When printing a colour photo, I get a bluish cast over the photo from the printer even though the photo looks perfect on my LG monitor or on my Samsung monitor (I have a dual monitor setup). If I print a PDF of an illustration, I get a greenish cast, same if I printed from Illustrator.

I am using the profile supplier for the Xerox Phaser 8560 and tried plain paper and glossy paper but the colour casts persist. Only the actual object being printed has the cast, the white of the paper outside of the object is still pure white and unaffected. If I set the printer driver to print in greyscale or black and white, there's no colour cast.

In Windows 7, I cannot access the colour management in the driver, but on my XP laptop, I can. However, I cannot seem to figure out how to change it.

Any ideas?

TIA!

Is your monitor calibrated?
What exact settings used for printing?

Monitors are not calibrated, but I am using the ICM supplied by LG for the main LG monitor.

In Windows 7, I let Photoshop and Illustrator manage the colour handling, but am unable to get the printer profile to show up, so have to use sRGB. tried different printer profiles and all produce the same thing, a green tint to the graphic being printed. Printing the PDF output on the XP laptop lets be access the printer management on the printer properties but it still prints with the green tint. Setting everything to b/w print comes out the right shading and no green cast but poorer quality output.

I have checked your beginner's guide, but you are using Mac dialogs which are different than Windows.

I am a toner cartridge remanufacturer and have over 40 laser printers, but the Phaser 8560 is my main colour laser printer as it does deliver excellent output in printing invoices and colour labels, but photos would have a blue cast and Illustrator would have the green cast on a greyscale illustration. The 8560 uses wax sticks and I am using the OEM sticks, not aftermarket.

So the reason I want to get this to print colours correctly is because my daughter is now attending Graphic Arts in college and it's much easier to print her projects out here as she lives right next door. Previously, I generally upload my photos to Costco for printing but by printing here, she could do colour proofs etc much faster and cheaper.

Hmm, I doubt that there are many people here who print photos with laser printers, and fewer still who would be familiar with that particular model. Have you seen laser photo prints that come out good on other printers/models?

Normally I don't use laser printers for my photos as I prefer just upping them to Costco for printing. I just generally use it for invoices, labels etc., because of it's speed in printing out colour labels (22 ppm in both colour and b/w). However, I do generally will print out a photo proof now and then and my daughter will print out her PS and Illustrator graphics on it.

I have not tried my colour test laser printers as I don't have any of them hooked up to the computer plus the quality isn't as good with those as it is on the Phaser, especially with heavy glossy paper which my daughter must use for her presentations.

I'm hoping there might be a graphic artist here that is using this model as most desktop and graphics shops use these printers for proofing colours and might be able to help me out.

I have asked my daughter if she can borrow a calibration kit from her college so we can calibrate the monitors, even though colours look dang good on the LG as it is.

Simple answer: Get a decent (photo) printer, such as an Epson R800…

As Rene says, a cheap ink jet is going to be far better than the laser esp. as it seems to low volume work for your daughter.

The supplied profile for your laser can be found here http://www.support.xerox.com …nloads&viewArchived=false (external link) (note that states that this is windows only and not newer than Vista)

It is a pretty small gamut of colour, even smaller than sRGB.
