So I know the pose isn't the best but this is my first shot blowing out the BG. How did I do? Any pointers?

Try setting your background light to 1.3 to 1.5 of a stop above your main light. Another possible reason for the spill could be a small room (relativity speaking) and the light bouncing off the walls.

Also I know I had my settings screwed on a couple and this may be one of them. medicdude--I'm guessing his setup is very close to this http://www.zarias.com …torial-part-1-gear-space/ This is the setup used. The tile board makes a pretty decent floor but I am curious to see how long it will hold up. I did not have the flags shown here on the BG lights so that may have been some of it. I am wondering if barn doors would work better then just the standard metal reflector on the RX600? From a space point of view the flags could be an issue. Curious as to others experience between the metal reflectors and barn doors. Bill R

Tile board wont last to long (depending on how often it is used of course) one big helper is putting down a towel or something for the subject to walk on till they get to the spot that you want them this will also help clean any stray dirt off of their shoes. If you are not doing full body you could just have them stand on the towel.

Apr 02, 2013 19:02 | #12 Does anyone have a good source for reasonably priced good quality barn doors for an 8 1/4 reflector? Elinchrom wants over $200.00 per set. Bill R

The model was about 10 feet in front of the white seamless, and I used two white tile panels on the floor. The model is standing on the first one. David | Sharing my Insights, Knowledge & Experience
