trigger, cable or wireless?
backdrop, muslim for this? white, black?
backdrop stand, sandbags needed?
couple of light stands & modifiers... umbrella or softboxes.... sandbags?

flashes... I know I want to pick up a couple B800s for sure. I'm pretty sure for this setup you would want to stay away from battery powered speedlights.

am I missing anything?

I don't like your words,
if you know how to use the damn equipment,
then, WHY YOU ASK US HOW TO DO IT IN HERE ???

simply amateur, think he knows how to do it right but he knows NOTHING !

Reread my friend, I never asked how to USE the equipment, just asked whats best on other peopled experience either wired or wireless trigger, color of backdrop and if sandbags are used for the stands which I feel is needed but others said they didn't thing it was. Most feel the use of umbrellas would be best for group shots, I perfer softboxes but would need a decent strobe to power a large softbox needed for groups, kinda unpractical.

So again... Did I ask how to set it up

I use Calumet background stand and background paper from HCE. Been satisfied with the background stand for almost 3yrs now. It's pointless to buy background paper online and pay significant shipping cost due to the size. Buy the paper local, they are cheap cheap cheap. I'm local to you, if you can't decide which one to get, I can lend you some equipment for that particular event to try it out if you want.

Seriously? I hate your words more.

What is wrong with asking?

I know how to use my gear but have never set up a photo booth as it's not what I shoot, why not ask people who have before? I have a good idea what I would do but there is no harm in asking for advice.

Now gonzo made sense, don't buy anything specifically for one event. Much better advice than "hire a pro".
