Afternoon all

Spent the last couple of days shivering at Lydden Hill for Round one of the European Rallycross championship. Used both my 70-200 and 100-400 so I took alot of various angles etc. Would love some feedback and if you think there rubbish just tell me, I would much prefer something that I can work at the next event so fire away .

All are awesome!
#2 is my favorite.
Full blur shots of cars usually look a little better with a tighter crop.

I think your photos are pretty competent and capture the essence of Rallycross. The only photo that I don't think you should have considered is #7. I am going to guess that the big belching flame is what drew you to that photo. This is a mistake that many photographers who shoot different forms of motorsports fall into. While the big flame is cool, nothing else in that image is sharp. That single instance captured shouldn't be the only thing to consider in your image.

Trouble with a tighter a crop on the panned shots is they don't look as sharp as they do a 0.5 megapixel dot

Cheers Luso, I completely understand what you mean and it makes sense, the flame was the deciding factor despite as you say none of the car being in focus at all.

Ignore the flame shot and ill add this one in as we'll

These look very good. The only advice I would offer is to just keep working on your panning technique, a couple of the pans are a bit soft.

Thanks, completely agree with you, wish they were a tad sharper but will keep practicising and hopefully Ill start nailing the focus and my panning technique more.

Composition and all are really nice in most of them. Along with what has already been said, a couple of the images, primarily the ones where it appears the weather was overcast seem to lack a bit of detail in the shadows. And again as said, some of the pans are a bit soft. I'd personally prefer an image with less motion blur and a sharp subject to one where not quite anything is quite where it should be.

Looks like a fun day nonetheless :)

What is your goal at the end of the day? Are you looking to impress the people here or to make a business out of it? Just wondering?

I would love to make a business out of my pictures but to be honest I personally don't feel my pictures are that good enough at the moment. I've improved massively with the help of people on this forum and another as my images below from the first ever time with a camera at the event shows. That's why I asked for feedback so I can keep on improving and that my photos keep improving at each event.

Ok that's why I ask. The one thing to always remember if you want to make a business out of it somehow, always think about who might buy the photos, like if you have a Monster car right next to a RedBull car, that is bad. the artsy shots that always look the best are usually saved for the magazines. and most of the time the mags have their own shooters there anyway.

I've never thought about that before about the sponsors clashing, makes perfect sense when you think about it though.
Must be hard to do at some motocross tracks with the amount of energy drink branding some of them have round the outside?
