Facebook tagging question (rude?)

I just did a birthday party for a family members 3 year old daughter. They said they have no problem with me using the pictures on my Facebook page and/or website. My question is in regards to tagging the pictures on facebook.

In the pictures that strictly have the 3 year old girl, would it be wrong and/or rude to tag people who were there at the party? These people are on my personal page friends list, however they are more of an Acquaintance since they are friends of family.

So, should I tag them to get some more exposure with their friends? Should I ask first? Should I just skip tagging them?

Any input on this is appreciated. I really don't want to upset anyone with this whole tagging thing.

If its parents of the child yes, grandparents yes, aunts uncles .... NO unless you know them well enough to know they wont have an issue.

Personally I have a pet peeve about people tagging me in a photo that I'm not in. So if there are others like me you might not be doing yourself a favor. Use the share feature instead.

When using the share feature, wont they only gain exposure from friends to my personal page? How do you use the share feature to gain more exposure with your business?

Agreed - parents of the child I would think is fine, anyone else though I wouldn't tag.

Fixed it for you. Whenever I've seen one of those it was a business related page that was tagging several hundred people as being in the image, usually a pic of their product.

IMO, it's a better idea to let the clients do the tagging. Let the parents know that the photos are posted (send a link to them of the album) and let them tag them however they see fit.

Family members do it a lot.. They post a photo of their precious little one that they think I might not see otherwise so they tag me in it. So if you look in the photos of me folder, a great deal of them aren't me. I know you can remove the tag, which I usually do at some later point if I remember.

I would let the parents tag the people they want to tag. No need for you to make the decision for them

Tag the parents and only the parents. They can tag anyone else or "share" with anyone else they see fit. Add a subtle branding watermark but don't worry about exposure for your business beyond that. If you did a good job, that will come naturally.

Its FACEBOOK! there are no rules, I can remove any tag, anyone places for me whether I'm in the photo or not.
It is tacky to tag someone for marketing reasons, with or with out approval.
But on the other hand some kids, would rather be tagged in a photo, than post a photo of themselves. I don't get it and I don't think most people get the facebook thing either.
I hope some new web site comes out to replace facebook, just like facebook did to "myspace". It will happen!
Remember when AOL and the AOL chat rooms was the only "thing"?

I agree with this.

When I upload photos I usually tag the people who are in the picture, or in the case of smaller children (usually 16 or under - no real rule I just use my own guidance/intuition) I'll usually tag the parents as well.

However, I have family members who constantly tag me in pictures that they took of a relatives child (e.g. my wife's cousin)... when I'm not in the picture at all, and I'm not directly related in any way (not my parent, child, etc). It bothers me when I get tagged in these pictures.

EDIT: Yes, just like this:
