Scratch on the new lens- What do u think?

Just received a brand new Canon lens, and while inspecting it, I noticed (it was hard not to) what you can see on the photos. The scratch is on internal glass and not sth that can be wiped off. It can not be seen on the photos so far, but then I wasn't able to properly test the lens, and I am just deciding if it's worth sending it back for a replacement or maybe I am getting a bit paranoid about getting pristine clean lens (?). What do you think?

I'd certainly send it back. If it was a speck of dust, that'd be one thing, but a sizable scratch on an element is another.

If that is inside the lens, you are not being paranoid - send it back!

on optics , I would send it back sooner than later..

Might not be a scratch but a hair or eye lash. In either case I wouldn't hesitate. Send it back.

This is from manufacturing. When the lenses are polished (abrasive).

My 24-70 II had scratches under the front element and one on the external surface. I sent to Canon and they replaced the lens assembly.

A 70-200 I bought as well had the same scratch. I exchanged it.

I would exchange it myself.

Nothing to consider, as others have said send it back.

Good luck. Hopefully the replacement will be better. I had the same issue with a Canon L lens. After multiple returns I gave up and called it a day as the pics I got from the final lens were fine. Just annoying seeing the scratch on the inner element.

Just had a phonecall from the shop. The staff (3 of them) could not see the scratch, despite provided photographs. They telling me, that what I can see, might be just one of the lens's internal elements reflecting on the glass and that is normal. But I have never seen anything like that on any other lenses (including 2 copies of this particular one) and I genuinly can not believe that reflection would have a form of such a fine, sharp line. Any suggestions?
