The colors actually represents RGB. The Z was changed to more cyan color because blue on black does not go well. The original was all white, but I wanted those letters to stand out to remind me how and why I got into photography and why I'm slowly turning this into a business. The blade was actually the same size as the letters originally as well and the Photography was just below. Then I wanted something more "catchy".

The problem is while those things mean something to you, they mean absolutely nothing to your clients. What you need is something easy to full read, this fails on the O. Something attention getting, but doesnt get in the way of your message.

I think you are too wedded to the concept to understand just how bad this is on several counts.

I think the logo is trying too hard.

When I first saw the logo, I was asking myself why the K E Z were colored and rest were not. Then saw your RGB explanation.

So okay the colors representing RGB... unless your target market is designers or colorists or something, would your potential clients care? I wouldn't think so. As a photographers, I think the idea is cool conceptually and perhaps there is a better way to pull it off but to potential clients, I don't think they would care or even know what RGB is.

My view on logos may be old school but I like the more simpler logos.

I guess what bothers me most is the size of the aperture logo, along with it being oval instead of circular.

That logo has very few things, if any, going for it. In addition to what's already been said, the main thing wrong is the fact that the aperture graphic slices and the word "phot graphy" would be completely illegible once shrunken down to business card or watermark size.

I'd ask for a few more concept ideas.
