My Canon 70-200 f2.8 II IS is in the Canon CPS shop because I dropped it on a tile floor :(

don't do that!

the damn thing is really a tank tho - nothing broke, no glass issues, just a bit of mis-alignment and the zoom ring is sticky... not even any major dents in the body

Did anybody here used to have the non-IS version previous to this lens? If yes, can you maybe post comparable pictures. It would really help in the decision.. IS II vs non-IS! Thanks guys!

Thanks for the head up, however I was aware of that topic. But I assume people who made the switch to this lens (topic) do have some comparable samples in the same lighting or with the same skill.

I will try to post some later, I just got the is II and still have a non is 2.8. For me the IQ was not that much of a difference, but having the four stops of IS makes a big difference.

I use to have the non-IS version with a Canon 10D, which had less pixel density than the cameras used with my IS II. I can tell the IS II is sharper, but it's also a hellufalot more expensive. At the time I thought the NON-IS was amazing, and it was sharper than the IS MK I

Despite all the help being given today, more needs to be done. We who have family in the hardest hit areas of the Philippines are most grateful for the tangible help being given to everyone around the world.

We just entered the monsoon season and more typhoons are expected to start arriving on an almost weekly basis. We pray for your help when the need arises again.
