Did a quick shoot with a friend of mine on a rooftop in Brooklyn. Needed headshots for upcoming comedy work in NYC.

Amazing pic, I would only crop a bit from the right where the edge of the second eye is visible now.

Do you feel like this lens negates the need for the 135mm in most instances?

I have this lens but still lust for the 135L because it gives you those amazon portraits with the creamy bookeh shots.

The 70-200 is really good for this, but not as great as the 135L.

70-200/2.8 IS has great versatility. But it is HEAVY compared with the 135/2 prime. So if you're looking for a lighter camera/lens package, the 135 delivers nicely. It's just the 135 can't do 70-134, and 136-200. pick your poison.

And no IS on the 135L!

Oh yeah I know about that weight now. Had buyers remorse from upgrading from the 70-200mm F4 L IS. I guess I'm wondering if at head to head comparison at 2.8 would be a fair comparison of the 135mmL and 70-200mm F 2.8l is ii.

The 135 F2 is an unforgiving lens for focus accuracy. I had it briefly, but my miss rate was so bad it gutted me. If I want that thick F2 look I just back up and go to 200mm on the 70-200 and the look is quite similar. And the IS helps quite a bit.

FWIW, I did n AB with the 135F2 L and the 100F2 (non-L), and there is not a lot of difference. The cheaper 100F2 holds it own. Really nice lens for the price, and my keeper rate was better. If I couldn't have a 70-200 2.8 I'd go for the 100F2 for ease of use and higher keeper rate.
