Actually on a technical issue, has anyone got any useful tips how to improve my shots of this weird activity? I realise I am junking about half my pixels by using centre spot AF then cropping in PP (at least unless I want a lot of headroom) and wondered if I would be better going for an AF zone in the upper field and hoping that it wouldn't keep false focusing? I could slow the speed of the AI Servo I guess to prevent it jumping from near to far? The other problem I have, is the distances are large and the object move near and far as well as left and right. sometimes a great speed (the jet skis approach 50mph I am told by the riders. I could just about afford the 100-400mm but as there might be a new version in the next year I would regret not waiting for it (even if the cost doubles). I wondered if the 1.4 TC might be an answer, but there again I am assuming I would have to stop if down a bit to sharpen it and in the UK we don't always have the best of the light :D. I do own a mkII 2.0 TC, but my experience with it is, It needs a couple of stops to sharpen it and then you are looking at f11 Any help gratefully received :)

Call me Amanda please :)

Just returned my Canon 70-200 f/4 and picked up this lens. What an amazing piece of kit.

Here are the first couple photos out of it.

It was dark and dreary, pretty hard to get photos going the way I would like.

=Arman's Photography;15977505]It looks fun, that's for sure. I would give him a action cam, it would be interesting to see what he is seeing when getting shot up in the air and than heading down in the water again.

A GoPro camera would be great for that situation.

Although those guys weren't using a GoPro, they do sometimes use one for wakeboarding etc

One of my kids on a very windy day. He paused for just a moment to look at me, I snapped the shot, then he was off to play again

The common wisdom that lenses are soft (varying by lens) wide open, and more-so at their longest focal length does not seem to apply to this lens. I briefly had the f/4 non-is before this with similar findings. This lens is SO sharp!! I guess spending the big bucks really does make a difference.

When I got into photography a few years ago I came to terms with the fact I'd likely never own this lens. Some dubious saving and some side jobs have allowed me to pick it up and I am SO very glad I grabbed it when I had a chance.

This was shot wide open AND at 200mm. I'm in hog heaven with this lens.
