As much as I like my recently acquired 70-300L, I don't recommend that you trade your 70-200/4L-IS for it. From test reports and other forum-user comments, I conclude that the 70-200/4L-IS is one of the sharpest lenses made by Canon. Consider a 1.4x TC instead if you need the extra range. Gave up my 2.8 mkll for the 70-300L but kept my 70-200 f4 with I/S .......I like it better than either 100-400's I had ... I cant stand the 100-400, its just too heavy and cumbersome for my needs. I borrow one every now and then but hardly use it. RodneyCyr wrote in post #15791699 As much as I like my recently acquired 70-300L, I don't recommend that you trade your 70-200/4L-IS for it. I had a TC for a while and although it does extend the long end it also extend the short end too much and i found i was taking it off quite often, only to have to put it back on again after a few shots.
