I purchased a new 600-EX-RT and the new ST-E3, right out of the box everything worked perfectly and as expected. Turned both units off from testing and went out to use in real life and they will not link together. If I turn the transmitter on first, then the flash, the flash link light will stay yellow while the transmitter goes green. If I turn on the flash first and then the transmitter then the transmitter will go yellow and the flash will go green. What am I missing? I've done no custom functions, both are set to the same channel and both are set to the same ID.

Any ideas, I'm going bonkers trying to figure it out.

TIA,
Jason

Hmmm. The manual says the Link light only lights up as either Green or Red.

Have you checked the channel and the ID set on both units? Try setting them manually.

You have to push the button twice on the flash so that it reads slave.
First push turns it on as master. If there are two masters first one is green second one is yellow.
That permits having two (or more) cameras share the same off camera lights.

Try turning everything on and pushing the camera shutter once. This should send the setup from the transmitter to the flash units.

Try a different ID number for both of the unit. Both of the units are using the same ID number right?

DMWard is the winner and get's a one million internet karma points! I must have stared at the settings for 30 minutes and never noticed they were both set to master. Thank you!

Jason
