I was at the local camera store yesterday trying out new lenses and a couple frames were black. No there wasnt a lens cap on the lens, so it wasnt that. lol . It was a nice sunny day outside just the 2 picture in the bunch were black. Is the shutter sticking and gettin ready to crap out on me? Thanks for any responses...

The obvious question is how is the camera behaving once you got back home with your usual lenses? In store I suppose you might have had a lens on manual and drastically stopped down. Was the store lit with fluorescent lights and what shutter sped was set? Still have the bad images? Post with exif, there might be an explanation there.

what's the exif info say about the settings on the black ones? (compared to the others)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

shutter sticking will make a black section, not totally black and every other one.

Camera settings, exif data, etc. No one can diagnose if there even is a problem let alone what it is without some information.

Note that lens on manual is the switch for AF. Normal Canon-compatible lenses don't have manual aperture. So stopping down the lens comes as commands from the camera.

In the end, we need to see the Exif information.

Well sorry I deleted the images before I uploaded them to the computer. I took almost 120 pictures yesterday and never had a problem, so Ill just keep an eye on it and see if it happens again. Thanks for all the responses.

Well Ive been always interested in a 1D classic, but I would have to sell my lens and grip to get a lens for the 1D. Ive been looking at 40D's see they are coming down in price used and that way seems more practical to me, but who knows the 1D might win out.

Generally you will hear shutter issues on a 20D. If it is working on and off you should also be getting random Error99. When my 10D shutter started to die I could tell. Generally I had to take the battery out to reset the camera. It would shoot again for a bit and then die again. Just keep an eye on it and see how it goes. My 20D I purchased in Sept '04 is still going strong. They tend to be built tough.

Would be good to post up the images but then now that they are deleted, hope you don't get the problem again. I am still using my 20D once in a while and except small LCD, I still love everything else.
