Does anyone know if the MR14EX ringflash unit will control a 580EX2 as a slave for macro photography ?

Im a newbie to using flash and unfortunately dont have manuals for either of these units.

If I can use them together could someone give me an idiots guide to setting them up

If not compatible - is there a relatively cheap slave unit I should be looking at buying ?

Many thanks

Don't know if it will wirelessly (will play and add post with results) but I'm planning on experimenting with my ring flash along side my AB monolights. I will have the ring flash on the camera and use a cable to run from the camera to my Impact radio trigger which will fire the AB. Probably an easier way to get there but i have time on my next shoot to play a bit. Should be interesting!
The Impacts are really cheap and work great.

The manual suggests that the MR14-EX is capable of being a master flash to other EX flashes

I have not had success putting the ring flash on a radio trigger because the ring flash is actually 2 flashes in one. The built in line of sight triggering works great just make sure the slaves can see the master ring flash. You can use ratios and assign any number of flashes to groups A, B or C.
