The game will last 7 Days and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.
Feel free to comment and/or ask questions at any time. This is a good competition for learning new methods, so let's make it a bit more dynamic. I will be judging edits, not comments. Feel free to comment on the original image as well.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #468"!!!

Submissions end, Monday, April 15th 2013 (tax day) at 9:00AM New York time and a winner will be announced.

Here's a RAW File for those who would like one to work with. See what you can do to rescue this image.

Removed the sign and reconstructed the area behind it. Duped layer and desaturated. Masked out the truck and added vignette. Added orange filter at reduced opacity.

Converted in Lightroom and exported 5 images at 1/2 stop difference. Created High structure, low halo, HDR image.
In PS opened up the center exposure image, set the HDR image as a new layer at 30% opacity.
Removed one of the track lights. Made and inserted 1918 sign to reduce some of the distracting glare from the window.

Ok...here goes my version, too many things to list, obviously too much time on my hand this last week...LOL...so got creative here...added the little dude, found different wheels, put a brass tank in the back...steam punk??? LOL...a concrete overlay...lens flare...cloned out the sign...bathroom...hmmm...then just a bunch of tinkering around.

Great entries, everyone!

Judging this one was tough. I mean really tough. Every contribution offered something that i really liked.

YB98- color, exposure and sharpness are spot on. Really clean edit. I just wish that the blown out reflection was cloned out on the floor. But again.... super clean edit.

M_six- I am a sucker for a good reconstruction. However, I am not a fan of "selective colored" images. That is one reason why i liked this one so much.. it worked with this image (something that rarely occurs), making the fire engine tastefully pop.

T3heavyShop- Nice crop and the HDR looks great. Not a halo in sight. Adding the sign to the window was also a nice touch. Very natural removal of the track lights, as well.

damccomb- Lots of time went in to this. I can definately see that. The steam punk idea was fun. Tubbing the rear of this fire engine was also a nice touch to get the (much necessary) traction to haul around that heavy brass tank (after an assumed engine swap). :) Nice work on the head light too.
I just wish that the exposure on captain chubby cheeks (and his tank) matched the rest of the image.
Great work.

Ok. The winner....

well, i am getting to it.

When i posted this image, i had two specific things in mind.... Get rid of the sign covering the headlight and the dreadfully distracting blowout on the floor. Due to the fact that M_six was the only one to do these things, i have to give it to him.
This was close.

Thanks. It wasn't so much selective coloring (I am also not a huge fan of those), but an attempt to recreate the real loss of color as the light fades. In a dark room, there is little or no visible color.

Lots of good work in this round. I'll see if I can find an image worthy of another good B&A.
