Did a cathedral wedding yesterday and got some nice shots but with a distinct yellow cast on most of them. Just wondered what the most effective way of taking out the cast is in photoshop . I have attached an example without any work on it. I dont want to lose the atmosphere but the bouquet had white and purple flowers in it so it does need work. Any suggestions appreciated

After playing around with this a bit, the flowers look to be purple and pale yellow. Are you certain they were white?

Are you shooting in RAW or .jpg? If you are shooting in RAW, it should be fairly easy to play with the tint slider in ACR until you remove the cast. Then you could copy the settings to all your other photos.

The big post processing problem here is that you have two completely different colors of light. The windows are a much cooler light than the rest. You cannot effectively post process this without separating out the windows on their own layer and processing the differently than the rest of the shot. (Actually the windows don't look like they need much processing. Just the rest of the shot.)

BY FAR the quickest and most accurate tool is the "color cast" tool in Photoshop Elements. Sample the dress, and the rest of the shot will change around the dress. This alone is makes Elements worth the money even if you already have the full Photoshop.

The original post does not give us permission to edit the shot, so I'm not sure how else to help.

Hi magmac21,

You don't have image editing turned on. You will probably get more suggestions if you turn it on. The moderators enforce the no image editing rule. A happy moderator is a helpful moderator.

Hi magmac21,

If you always want to give people permission to edit your images on this site, go to the top of any of the forum pages and click User CP at the left of the page. After that select Edit Profile, and you click a radio button that will add the text 'IMAGE EDITING OK" under your name at the left hand side of each of your posts.

I'd say that gives the photoshop rats permission to "chew" on this one. There is an option in your Profile (check the User CP link at the top) to show a message that clearly states "Message Editing Allowed" under your avatar. You can enable that, or just give permission to edit on a per post basis.

Since you gave permission :) here is my attempt at removing the color cast with PS CS2 using the black and white droppers in "Curves":
