2013 Merrie Monarch Hula Festival -- Hilo Hawaii

I had the privilege to attend the premier Hawaiian Hula Dancing & Performing Arts event this year held in Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. I also had the opportunity to take my DSLR gear and photograph a few performances. This was my very first time attending such an event and I must say, I realize why this is the "Super Bowl" of Hula Dancing. These artists / athletes put together an amazing show and all the hard work they invest throughout their year of preparation really pays off.

My father in-law is an honorary guest every year (so he gets two complimentary seats "Front Row" each year). He gave the wife and I his kahiko tickets this time around!!
